The Eye Exam

Our optometrist will begin with an eye exam. This will test your current vision to ensure it hasn’t changed since your last appointment. It’s recommended you see an eye doctor on an annual basis.

By dilating the eyes, the optometrist can review eye structure and diagnose glaucoma, advanced nearsightedness, and diabetes. The eye doctor will also inspect for glaucoma with optic nerve testing. Visual acuity tests are a standard part of your vision exam as well.

Sunglasses Selection

Once you receive your eye exam, you can pick your sunglasses. The same rules for picking glasses applies when looking for sunglasses: you want to find a pair that works with your face shape. Also, if you have certain facial features that you don’t really like, you can minimize these with variously-shaped lenses.

For instance, if your face is round, you don’t want to make it look rounder. Instead, you’d want long sunglasses that create stronger angles on your face. If your face is already long, then you should get frames with a low bridge and depth, as this makes the face look shorter.

The patients who have the most options with sunglasses and eyeglasses are those with an oval face. Of course, in the end, you should choose the sunglasses that you like and feel comfortable wearing. You should feel confident about yourself and your decision.

Our eye doctors are always available to guide you towards a decision.
